A Letter to My Lottie xXx

Dear Lottie

Tomorrow is your first birthday and I just wanted you to know how precious, beautiful and amazing you really are to me. In just 365 days you have really changed me as a person and melted my heart, I love you so very much. My love for you I can not explain, but it reaches the depths of the sea and is higher than any cloud. I never imagined my love for you to be so strong.

There are so many things that I have enjoyed over the last year, starting with your arrival into the world it could not have been more amazing and such a beautiful experience to have you in the comfort of your own home. I still cannot to this day believe that we both achieved such an awe inspiring homebirth.

Filled with the highs of your birth and totally overwhelmed with love for you, that's when my milk came in and I decided to breastfeed you, something I never thought I would do. I had tried with your sister but she was a lot hungrier and I could not keep up. I feel so proud of the bond and how we have worked as a team and how you have been breastfed for a year, that is such a massive achievement for me and I want to thank you for just simply being such an easy to feed baby. I never in a million years thought I would say this but I really am going to miss the days when you no longer want your mummy milk, it feels like you will then be flying the nest but I know that's silly as you will still need your mummy.

Recently I have started to see glimpses of your personality and its amazing the similarities that I can see between us, however it is not always a good thing. We are both very strong willed and know what we want and when we want it, I think this will certainly cause daddy issues as he's very chilled out!

You have just had your first pair of shoes and I wasn't able to buy you the pair I originally wanted as they didn't do them in such a narrow size so I am sorry to say that you take after me with your narrow feet and if you carry on like this I apologise that you won't be buying many shoes as very few will fit you.

Your face lights up a room and certainly light up my life, whenever I'm feeling a little bit off, a big gleaming smile and cuddle from you is the best way of picking me up. You've just learnt to kiss which is so sweet and lovely.

This last year has had its downs too, I found it really tough when you had reflux and through some of the breastfeeding issues but together as a team we have got through the first year, I feel sad that this year has gone by so quickly and part of me does wish we could do it all again as it has just been amazing but equally I am really looking forward to what the future will hold for you.

I don't want to set down what I want you to do or achieve in your life, simply put, the only things as your mummy that I want for you is to be happy and know that I love you so very very much.

Happy Birthday for tomorrow my baby girl and I love you lots my little Lottie,

All my love

Your very very proud Mummy xxxx
